Welcome to the heart of Cotherstone, where the charming Cotherstone Old Chapel Shop and Cafe awaits to delight your senses. Nestled in a lovingly converted chapel, this cafe is more than just a dining spot—it's a beautiful community space that embodies warmth and hospitality. Whether you're a local or a visitor, stepping inside feels like being welcomed into a friend's home.

The menu at Cotherstone Old Chapel Shop and Cafe is a delightful mix of traditional British cafe fare that showcases the rich culinary tapestry of the region. From the moment you take a seat, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee envelops you, inviting you to unwind. Indulge in their delectable fruit scone with jam and clotted cream (£4.40), a crowd favourite that Kane Mitchell raves about, describing it as one of the nicest he’s ever had. The cheese scone with butter (£3.50) isn’t just a snack—it’s a savory masterpiece, perfect for pairing with your choice of beverages, including a smooth flat white (£3.50) or a classic Yorkshire tea (£2.20).

For those seeking something hearty, the cafe’s breakfast bun will start your day on the right foot, or perhaps you’d prefer a comforting sausage butty, loved by Lee Bridgeland-Hewitt for its perfect execution. The atmosphere is vibrant yet cozy, with a friendly team of volunteers ready to serve you. Imagine enjoying your meal beside a roaring fire, slow moments filled with light conversation, and laughter echoing through the lovely space.

Cotherstone Old Chapel Shop and Cafe also shines as a community hub where locals and visitors alike can gather. Carol Kubicki highlights the welcoming nature of the cafe, making it an ideal place to catch up with friends or indulge in some quiet time with a good book and a delicious toasted teacake with butter (£2.50). Andy Lloyd echoes this sentiment, appreciating the opportunity to pop into the shop for locally sourced goods, like the renowned Cotherstone cheese.

The cafe prides itself not just on food, but also on fostering a sense of community, making it a fabulous addition to the quaint village of Cotherstone. As one reviewer noted, “please pop in if you are out and about,” and it’s hard not to agree—the atmosphere and quality of food are truly inviting.

So, whether you’re passing through or planning a cozy afternoon, make your way to Cotherstone Old Chapel Shop and Cafe. The scrumptious offerings, community spirit, and comforting vibe promise an experience that will leave you wishing you could carry a piece of this charming cafe home with you. This is a fantastic addition to Cotherstone. The cafe and small shop are friendly and welcoming. They have a good selection of cakes and sandwiches, jacket potatoes and pies.

Great addition to the area - when we last visited some years ago, the conversion was just a plan amongst the community, so it was great to see it come to fruition. Enjoyed the coffee, a fine pork pie and cake! Pleased to be able to pick up a local Cotherstone cheese from the shop too!

The visit to this Cafe was well worth it. The staff were friendly great atmosphere and the bacon butties were delicious. We were visiting from New Zealand and would love a place like this back home.

Converted church, run by the community. Really beautiful conversion. Lovely atmosphere. Lovely breakfast bun. Beautiful home cooked pastries and cakes. Service was great very friendly volunteers. Price was a little on the high side, but I understand why. Would call again, and you should visit, if you get the opportunity. Thank you.
